Brief:

The Department of Student Affairs operates within the Office of Student Affairs. Its purpose is to offer services and amenities aimed at maximizing the comfort of students on campus. This, in turn, plays a role in enhancing the educational environment and facilitating the academic process.

Affiliated units within the department include:

  1. Student Services Unit:

   This division caters to female students, offering a diverse array of services. These include tracking and announcing lost items, facilitating textbook delivery, managing book requests, providing insurance lockers in adherence to regulations, and addressing problems or violations reported by female students. The unit is also responsible for overseeing matters related to female students, such as bus-related issues and inputting student data into the bus program. Additionally, it handles entry permits to halls and undertakes new responsibilities aimed at enhancing student services. The unit extends its oversight to the general maintenance of student classrooms.

  1. Student Support Services:

   This unit ensures comprehensive support for students from the commencement of their studies until graduation. Key services provided includes:

   – Reception Department:

     This department manages student and visitor entry to and from the university in collaboration with the security department. It also handles external calls and responds to student inquiries.

   – Aid and Grants:

     The university allocates monthly financial assistance to deserving students, issuing bank cards after assessing the social status of new students at the start of each academic year. Full scholarships are also provided to all students in BA  in Islamic studies and Arabic Language and Literature, throughout their tenure.

   – Health Care:

     The university prioritizes student safety and health, offering necessary health services and facilitating transfers to accredited healthcare facilities. Students, visitors, and employees are entitled to health services and first aid during emergencies. The university arranges medical assistance on campus or refers cases to accredited medical centres. In emergencies, the ambulance service is summoned to transfer patients to the nearest hospital for further monitoring.

   – Transportation:

     The university’s transportation service focuses on organizing safe and comfortable transportation for female students from their residences to the university. This service, provided by qualified drivers and supervisors, is nearly free and competitive. It extends to transporting students to external activities like visits, scientific and recreational trips, and participation in conferences and lectures beyond the university.

Second – Engagement in Student Activities:

Participation in student activities fosters a sense of unity within the university, exposing young individuals to diverse aspects of societal life. Through their specialized skills and experiences, students develop a communal spirit, receiving training in collective leadership, consultation, group collaboration, and mutual understanding.

These activities play a pivotal role in shaping students’ personalities, helping them navigate challenges, address problems, shoulder responsibilities, and experience the value of effort and teamwork.

The Student Activities Department diligently pursues its goals through its affiliated units, including:

  1. Communication and Connection Unit:

This unit enhances students’ communication skills, contributing to the formation of a generation that values work and social responsibility. It facilitates the development of students’ behavioural, cognitive, and emotional aspects by organizing purposeful and planned activities across various domains. The unit also supports students, meets their community needs, and provides opportunities for self-development and talent enhancement.

  1. Student Council Unit:

Comprising a select group of students elected according to university and Ministry of Education standards, the Student Council safeguards students’ rights and responsibilities. It collaborates with the university administration to enhance the teaching process, serve students, and foster skill development through scientific, cultural, and recreational activities. The Student Council consists of the President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Cashier, includes specialized committees:

 

  1. Sports Committee: Organizes sports activities, matches, and competitions to develop sports skills.
  2. Cultural Committee:
  • Specializing in the coordination of cultural events, fostering awareness of national issues, and nurturing students’ creative and cultural potential.
  • Through its diverse programs, the Cultural Club actively contributes to shaping and refining students’ personalities, fostering their talents in literary, cultural, and scientific domains. Additionally, the committee aims to enhance knowledge, promote purposeful scientific research, and encourage engagement in scientific and social studies.
  1. Public Relations and Media Committee: Organizes media activities and enhances students’ creative, media, and marketing skills.
  2. Technical Committee: Coordinates artistic activities for students, highlighting their talents and boosting artistic production.
  3. Public Services Committee: Engages in public service projects to benefit the environment and society.
  4. Social Activity and Trips Committee: Organizes social, cultural, and recreational trips to develop social skills and foster cooperation among students, faculty, and staff.
  5. Scientific and Technological Activity Committee: Conducts seminars and lectures to develop scientific and technological capabilities, promoting knowledge dissemination through science clubs and academic societies.
