Introduction

Al Wasl University aims to enhance,   develop, and support  scientific research   in line with the strategic plan for 2021-2026, and based on AWU’s vision:

Al Wasl University aspires to have its academic programs and research capabilities lead regionally and internationally). Additionally, it seeks to improve the university’s global ranking according to international standards, within the framework of global competitiveness in scientific research fields.

Therefore, it encourages faculty members to work in research teams affiliated with globally ranked universities and spares no effort in motivating their potential to enrich scientific research and elevate the research process.

 

Objectives of Encouragement and Motivation for Research Teams

Through the adoption of a reward system for research teams, Al Wasl University aims to:

  1. Enhance the university’s global ranking according to international standards.

  2. Encourage scientific research within the university, develop its quality, and elevate its level.

  3. Strengthen cultural and intellectual ties between various regional and international universities.

  4. Contribute to transferring the experiences of researchers affiliated with the university to international institutions and environments.

  5. Encourage faculty members to produce knowledge that enhances the university’s local and international status.

Conditions for University Support for Research Teams:

  1. The principal researcher must be a faculty member at Al Wasl University.

  2. Faculty members must have completed at least one academic year as contracted faculty at the university.

  3. Participation should be under Al Wasl University’s affiliation as the primary affiliation for the principal researcher, a faculty member at the university.

  4. The team should consist of no fewer than three researchers, including the principal researcher, and no more than four researchers, including the principal researcher.

  5. Participating researchers must be from universities ranked among the top thousand globally in an internationally accredited ranking in the year the project is registered.

  6. The team must submit at least four published research papers.

  7. The research topics should align with the major axes of scientific research approved in the strategic plan of the Research Affairs Department, or be closely related to them, benefiting primarily the UAE society and humanity in general.

  8. Graduate students enrolled in a doctoral program may participate in the team, with no more than one member from the team being a graduate student.

  9. If any of the research is applied, the principal researcher must submit a feasibility study, including the expected expenses for its completion, with the application documents.

  10. Completed research by the team must be published in journals indexed in Scopus or Clarivate databases in the year the researcher publishes their research (team members must commit to this).

  11. No more than two papers should be published in one journal.

  12. All required papers, documents, and procedures for registering the research team must be completed.
