Welcome to the Department of Library and Information Science at the College of Arts, Al Wasl University, Dubai.
We are committed to developing the capabilities of our students to acquire creative and effective specialized skills that can be used in all categories of information institutions. The Department of Library and Information Science also seeks to prepare students to achieve a high level of professionalism and acquire leadership skills that enable them to inspire others.
We also work to build a supportive academic environment based on respect, justice, and equality. Through the efforts of our department’s professors, we strive to present distinguished research that impacts both the academic and specialized communities.
The department offers several modern courses that benefit undergraduate students in various information technology fields. We award a Bachelor of Library and Information Science degree, allowing students to specialize in library, information, or archive management, aligning with the needs of the job market and increasing opportunities and career prospects for graduates. Our program is accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education in the United Arab Emirates, enriching students’ educational experiences and enhancing their chances of obtaining prestigious professions.

Vision:
Academic leadership in library and information science and excellence in the knowledge society regionally.
Mission:
To prepare distinguished scientific and professional cadres in the field of libraries and information, capable of meeting the needs of the local and regional job market, leading in conducting academic research and studies, and establishing the values of scientific research and sustainable development.
Objectives:
To prepare qualified human resources to work in information production institutions and organize them using appropriate information and communication technologies.
To graduate students with knowledge and practical skills, qualifying them to enter the job market and achieve outstanding accomplishments.
To develop infrastructure and service delivery methods, utilizing information technology and communication technology to serve the educational process.
To offer diverse programs at the graduate level (Master’s, Ph.D.) and professional level (Professional Diploma), develop knowledge, and preserve intellectual output.
To activate the partnership between the community and the department to serve the local community, and establish close links with community institutions to develop department resources through private entities.
